Intentional Homework

At SCCS, we believe in a healthy balance between structured and unstructured learning opportunities for our students. We believe in the value of supporting parents as they encourage their students creative play, exploration and discovery. Most importantly, we believe that evenings are meant for families to spend time together; strengthening their bonds as a family team or unit. Therefore, we hold the position that homework should only be assigned with a strong purpose in mind; one that supports the needs of the individual student and takes into account their age and developmental level. Teachers provide intentional assignments to foster independent learning, 20 minutes of reading per day, math facts fluency practice, and daily "God Time" at home and with family in effort to foster a close relationship with Jesus.
